Turning a page with only a few fingers, the 10 year old masked boy known as Cry was under a tree, scanning each and every word.
"What are you reading about?"
Cry looked up to see his friend, Pewdie.
"Immortality." Cry simply replied.
"Cool." Pewdie said. "But I got something to show you!"
Pewdie grabbed Cry's hand as he dragged Cry away from the tree.

PorcelainDiane’s hand crashed hard into the porcelain as her knees hit the ground in front of her perfectly white toilet. She had over done it, she realised. She retched again and vomited into the bowl trying not to let the acrid smell fill her lungs because that smell often made her vomit again. She had been feeling rough for a couple of days but had decided to distract herself by cleaning, the kitchen was done but when it came to bleaching the bathroom the enclosed space made the cloying scent had seemed magnified somehow and it had stuck to the back of her throat until she had coughed it out. She was sick.
She was sick and she hated to be sick. She pulled the plastic toilet seat down and rested her arm on it so she could lay her cheek against her wrist. She felt the tears streaking over her hand and it tickled unpleasantly, but she was exhausted from the exertion of being so drastically unwell, so she did not move.

Living a Dream P26Fenn ran down the street for dear life as the gunfire opened out behind her. She ducked and weaved; her training taking over as she bolted down the street. She felt a sharp pain in her leg, and staggered. She dragged herself around the corner, and ran head-first into the TARDIS.

The Eleventh Doctor poked his head out of the door, and peered down at her, where she had fallen on the ground.

"What're you doing down there?" he asked.

"Oh, you know, the usual, running for my life," Fenn answered.

"How's it coming along for you?"

"Could be better; they're almost 'round the corner."

"Well come in, come in, kettle's on."

Gwen's phone rang. She was sitting in the hub with Owen, Ianto, Tosh and Jack, discussing Jack's travels with the mysterious Doctor. She picked it up, knowing that only one person had a phone with the proper security key to contact her in the hub. She flipped it open, "Rhys? What's wrong?"

"What? Who's Rhys? Who am I talking to? Is that the Torchwood hub?"

Gwen glanced up at the others, who had fallen silent with curiosity, "Who is this? Only Rhys has the right security key to call me."

"Security keys? That technology is so old. I'm the Doctor, and I was hoping that this was Jack, or somebody from Torchwood."

Gwen looked up at Jack, "The Doctor?"

Jack jumped up and grabbed the phone off her, "Doctor? It's Jack."

The Doctor almost laughed with relief, "Jack, thank the heavens. I need your help."

"What is it?"

"My companion... well, sort of companion... she was shot, in the stomach. I brought her to a hospital in Leadworth, but there's something..."

"Why? What went wrong?"

The Doctor held the receiver close, wishing he could say something else, "It was Delven, from the Time Agency. I don't know what he hit her with, but it's burning her, apparently."

Jack stared at the wall, "Oh no."

"Do you know what it is?"

"Yeah, it was a specific type of laser- I think it was made of huon energy residue. I didn't think they'd finished it."

"The medical staff here don't know what to do."

Jack nodded, subconsciously forgetting he was on the phone, "We have to get her here. I'm sure Owen will be able to help. How long does she have?"

"Half an hour, tops."

"We can't reach Leadworth in half an hour! It's too far!"

The Doctor rubbed his face with his hand, "Listen, Jack, have you still got your vortex manipulator?"

"Yeah?"

"Last time I saw you I disabled it- but it's not broken, you just need a teleport base code to get it working again."

"And this code would be?"

The Doctor pressed his head against the wall, thinking, "Try four and nine. It's what the Sontarans use."

Jack re-calibrated his vortex manipulator, smiling with satisfaction when the readings confirmed that it was working. He spoke to his team, holding his hand over the mouthpiece, "Life support system, first aid kit and stretcher. Quickly." They hurried off to find the equipment.

The Doctor spoke again, "Can you get here?"

Jack grinned, "You bet I can! Just you wait, Doctor!" And he hung up.

And so the Doctor did wait.

But not for long.

Well he always seemed to be complaining. I mean, once I learned about his girlfriend, I understood a little more. And I knew that not everyone would be as accepting of the job. Once he died I got more interested in him, but not by that much. I liked it more when he was emotional, and not drinking/caring. When he was so indifferent, it seemed so...normal. And predictable. And a little boring. I liked the others more for their somewhat cheery disposition, except maybe Gwen at the very end, but I'd still take her over Owen.

Yeah, I don't particularly like Owen myself- he just seems a bit too depressing, you know? I mean, sure, a lot of people haven't been throught the kind of stuff he's been through, but the rest of the Torchwood team has been through something like it and yet they all manage to be happy. I just think he doesn't know how good he's got it. But yeah, I like the rest of the Torchwood team more, specially Ianto. He cracks me up XD

Oh I definitely agree. Yeah, it's like he's kind of given up on the extras of life. It's sad at how he doesn't appreciate more.

To me it's like he's given up on happiness like it's a chore :/ I think he would appreciate life if he tried, but the fact is that he doesn't.
