They entered the TARDIS again, an awkward silence ringing in between them.

The Doctor spoke up, "So, where to next, then?"

Hannah was again sitting in his chair, much to his annoyance, but Fenn was pacing the floor around the console; both companions looked sombre. Finally Fenn spoke up, "I remember reading somewhere that Jack turned up in an alien bar in the city of Zaggit-Zagoo on the planet Zog. We could try there."

The Doctor nodded, glad to be moving on again, "What year?"

"I have no idea, to be honest, but I think our best bet is two thousand and eight, again- just after Christmas."

The Doctor set the TARDIS in motion, relieved by the familiar sound filling the silence. They arrived at their destination, and stepped out the door. Loud music throbbed through the building- the Doctor recognised it as "My Angel put the Devil in me". There were aliens of all shapes, sizes and species- Judoon, Slitheen, Raxacoricofallapitorians, Graske, Sontarans, Hath, Adipose, Vinvocci, Zocci, Sycorax, Uvodni and various other species that neither Fenn nor Hannah could name from the series.

The Doctor pulled the two girls back, just before they started to wander off, "Oh, no you don't. You're staying with me- I'm not having two humans wandering around in here alone. It's dangerous."

Fenn rolled her eyes, "Whatever you say, Doctor. I was just going to say hello to Jack."

She pointed at a figure at the bar, leaning over a drink, looking depressed. The Doctor mumbled, "Well, okay then, let's go and see him."

They wove their way through the crowd, coming up right behind Jack. The Doctor tapped him on the shoulder, and he swung around, pointing a modified staser gun at the Doctor's head- when he realised just who he was pointing the gun at, Jack dropped it in surprise, "Doctor! What are you doing here? Oh, hey Fenn."

"Hi, Jack."

The Doctor looked at the two of them in surprise, "Have you two met?"

Jack nodded, "Yeah, we used to work together back when I was-"

"-undercover as a university graduate on one of his Torchwood missions," Fenn finished, glaring at Jack from behind the Doctor. She mouthed to him in no uncertain terms, 'DON'T TELL HIM.'

"Ahhhh," the Doctor said, still suspicious, "right. Well then, I have a few questions to ask you, Jack."

"Right now, Doctor? I'm having a bad day." He looked it; his clothes were torn and grubby, his hair was positively ruffled and he just looked downright depressed.

"Why, what's happened?"

"Nothing you can change, Doctor."

"Tell me, Jack!"

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" Fenn gasped, smacking herself in the head with dismay, "It's Ianto, isn't it?"

Jack just nodded and looked like he was about to break down. The Doctor looked completely bemused again, "What's happened to Ianto?"

"He died, Doctor," Fenn looked like she was about to cry herself.

"Oh."

"Sorry, Jack, I forgot when that had happened."

Jack seemed to pull himself together slightly, "Don't worry, Fenn, I'm sure it's not your fault. So, Doctor, you had questions for me?"

Dammit, you and your teasing with little bits of information that don't actually help me figure out what's going on
